How do I setup 2-Step Verification via SMS or TOTP?

We support 2-step verification via both SMS (Text Message) and Google Authenticator (TOTP).

To set up SMS verification:

1. Go to Settings > Setup Primary Phone Number
2. Tap "Send a verification code to your phone"
   1. (If you need to update your phone number, go to Settings > Account Actions > "Contact Support", or write to us at support@tryanchor.com) 
3. Enter the code sent to your phone
4. You will receive a confirmation that your phone number has been verified  

Note that attackers have demonstrated the ability to successfully transfer a mobile number to a phone under their own control ("SIM Swap"). For this reason, SMS may not be as secure a way to provide 2-step verification as a dedicated Authenticator App, which we also support.

To enable 2-Step via an Authenticator app:

1. Navigate to Settings > Two Factor Authentication
2. Tap "Add to Authenticator App"
3. Follow the instructions to add Anchor to your Authenticator app.
   1. Note that you'll need to download Google Authenticator or a similar authenticator app in order to do so, if you haven't already.
